Video: Shuriken/throwing star

Shuriken/throwing star

Here’s how to make a shuriken/throwing star. You’ll need 2 square papers, it doesn’t matter how big they are as long as they’re the same size. I get so many useless papers in my courses that I kill time by making shurikens out of them - about 200 so far. The problem with these is that they’re very light and when thrown the air pressure between the shuriken and the target will build up very quickly just before hitting it and it’ll just barely miss it (but don’t count on it, exceptions exist).

Please be careful with these, they can be very dangerous… especially if you make a big one. They’re great because it takes less than a minute to make one and they fly very far and accurately if you throw them right.

Dude, hosting your videos on stage6 (www.stage6.divx.com) would yeild much better results. It loads faster than youtube and is DivX encoded, so it can be very high quality without increasing buffering times loads.

On another note; I am very impressed with some of your stuff, 4chan.org has a papercraft section where loads of papercraft designs are posted, might be worth checking it out if you havn’t already.

Hi Dave, I checked it out, but it seems that to play stage6 streams you need divx installed (some don’t even know what divx means), I’d also have to convert my files before uploading them. I find it much easier to put them on YouTube which has more accessibility and is more known, the quality might not be as good, but is bearable.

These were actually banned at my junior high, as we made and threw around so many that innocent bystanders were hit often. No injuries though, fortunately.

hey that’s really cool! I’ve been wonder how to make them since my friend was throwing them around in class one day.
On another note what’s the name of that song and artist on this video I’d really like to know it has a very unique and relaxing sound to it.

Actually I have no idea who made this song or its title. I usually rip the songs off an internet radio for a few hours and then select one that pleases me the most.

Here’s a website that shows images and comments all the folding: http://www.papercrafty.com/2005/how-to-make-an-origami-ninja-star, I won’t make a video of only one step… it might also help looking at other videos of this origami (YouTube’s full of them).

Nice. xD In my elementary school we made these from standard paper, doubled over however much was necessary for the 1:4 shape. The extra paper makes them sturdier; my friend and I could pierce 1″ thick styrofoam at 20 paces.
