This is another approach to paper torture, it’s called kirigami and consists of cutting lines in a paper, fold it and get amazing results. Kirigami isn’t very difficult if you plan it, I had an idea and started to cut the paper only to discover that I did everything wrong. A plethora of pictures and a video after the break.
I hope you get inspired and start making your own, here’s some resources.
A video of how to do kirigami:

If anybody knows who’s the author of these let me know, I found them on a site (which I forgot) and they were credit-less.

And finally some websites you might want to check out:

yes. Beautiful model indeed, but I don’t like cutting. I think it brings shame to origami, although that is kirigami I don’t like that either. Does strip origami include cutting in the strips?
Yes, strip origami is made of strips, so you have to make strips of paper, otherwise no. But that’s like making a square paper from an A4 format paper, you have to start with something.
yea sure, but I meant do you have to cut IN the strips when you are folding them?
No, once they’re strips you do not need to cut anything anymore.
ahh ok, nice!
I have tried making Kirigami and started with something simple. It came out ok. It was a wedding cake that I made.
Hello there. I am currently looking for some diagrams for kirigami. I found one where I made something similar to the “Wedding Cake” on one of the websites you posted. Can you possibly give me websites where I can can find diagrams for kirigami architecture?
@kiman: Well I’m not a specialist in kirigami diagrams, the most I can do is a google search. Kirigami is really a do and see thing, it’s is easy, just take a piece of paper and a ruler and start making lines. Search for some pictures to get inspiration, original work is always more rewarding.
very beautiful indeed. i like cutting and creating beautiful things like this ;i wil be thinkful if you send me some copies to work on .
i’ve done kirigami and i made some really cool snowflakes and things. i found a calander kit once.
Hello there. I’m a huge fan of you. I was wondering if you could make another video about kirigami…
I know you couldn’t upload a video of how to do some amazing kirigami, could you give us pdf documents so we can fold them?
@Anonymous: I would have to make them myself then, let’s put it in the queue.
Check out this book Kirigami: The Art of 3-dimensional Paper Cutting by Laura Badalucco.
Some models on http://lydiard.free.fr/kirigami.htm are in this book. The book also comes with the patterns.
I hope it helps anyone who is interested in kirigami.
