Another strip origami, by Heinz Strobl. All it needs is strips of paper and time. It’s actually not hard to make, but very time consuming. The individual pentagons are easy to make, but you must be careful to not fold them in the wrong way or you’ll have to undo the last move.
What’s nice about it is the circles and stars it makes with its shadow. I used 1cm width paper for the strips. I found the diagrams on Orihouse, you can either make the stars like I did or circles and then knot them together. You’ll probably have to use scissors to cut the ends of the strips, but then again you’re just adjusting the length of the strips (may I remind you that on normal origami scissors are strictly forbidden). Check out the 10 minute video of the making of after the break.

This was actually my first model I made, and I’m happy to see you made it. I made it back in December. To anybody who’s looking at wanting to make this, it really isn’t hard at all, and once you know how to do it you don’t think much about it.
Wow….. sick….. How long are the strips?
They’re A4 format so 29.7cm, I cut them along the lines to get exactly 1cm wide strips. The length really isn’t important since you’ll have to either use a very long strip or knot smaller together.
oh ok thanks:)
wow! Even though people concider me as an expert, I dont think I can do that.
just try it,damn it !
by the way nice work, nice blog, nice origami..
nice origami dude tell me how to do it e-mail me.
OMG! i saw this video on youtube and was like, “Wow! that must have taken a long time!” this origami looks tough, but i have yet to prove myself wrong.(hopefully) going to attempt it tonight…
i am gonna show this to my friend, man
when you say A4 format, do you mean like normal printer paper?
@little_bit: well in this case it doesn’t matter, the strips have to be much longer than an A4 paper height, but yes, technically it’s normal printer paper.
I tried making this however i am not able to make it in round. i tried the diagrams too however nothing has helped me yet
how long are the strips
@Bart: I used A4 paper, but you can use any length, you’ll have to add up anyway… basically it’s like it was one humongous strip.
there are no diagrams that explain how to connect another strip of paper to another without the use of glue.the diagrams are almost useless in that sense
