Video: Classical Kusudama

Classical Kusudama

Originally this modular needed glue, but I modified it a bit so it doesn’t need any, unfortunately that makes the origami much harder. It isn’t very sturdy when assembled since it was meant to be glued together. I used 6 square papers of 10cm. The beginning is the same as the star, but is folded a bit differently to get to the same result.

Diagrams by Yurii and Katrin Shumakov and video after the break.

    wow nice Karl!
You found a smart way to assemble it without the glue.
    great job.
I’ll try to make this now:-)

I remembered how I had to sink the top of the omega star and the tip of this model was exactly the opposite shape, I wouldn’t have made a video of it if I had to use glue.

I have folded the same model using patterend / printed origami paper of 6″. In order to prevent the ‘ends’ of the folds from sticking out in the centre of each of the units, I cut out a small circluar piece from a sheet of gold foil (the size of a dime) and stuck it over the centre of each of the units. Great model!!
