Here’s a very easy icosahedron by Heinz Strobl. It requires 20 strips of 6 squares for the triangles and 30 strips to knot them together (strips of 5 squares also work). Only the knotting strips will stand out, but I found it’s still better to use two colors. You can make a bigger model when assembling 6 triangles instead of 5 and connecting them to a 5 triangle module.
Diagrams here and the video after the break.

wow! Thats awesome! At first when I saw the picture I was like, impossible!, but when you wrote that it’s very easy, and I saw the video, I changed my opinion:P
I’ll give it a shot:) Thanks very much
HI cool your page but there aren’t flowers!
Yaay!! Thanks very much! I made it!!:-D
The last one was quite tricky, but after some fiddling I got it done:)
I also made the wobbling cubes, but I wasn’t sure how to assemble it, so I improvised and it was a bit loose, but thanks again:P
In total how many strips will i need?? and i luv ur site
@sup: like the description and the video says you need 20 of one color and 30 of another, that makes 50.
Thank you for the instructions. It took some time, but was much easier than it looked.
if you can …can you try to make a variation of the model. For example, like instead of triangles, can you do squares?
This model looks really pretty. I will try it out this weekend for sure!! I hope I can make it as micely as you have. Thanks so much!!
wut size paper did u use?? is it an A4 cut into 8 different pieces?
@budster67:
The size of the paper doesn’t matter, as long as it is long enough. The larger the strip the bigger the origami. I took 1cm strips.
