Video: That simple unit (TSU)

A weird name yes, but it’s because it’s a modular unit from which you can assemble anything you want. Courtesy of Charles Esseltine. I gave some examples of what you can assemble with the TSU, but there’s more. I made a total of 16 modules, you can assemble in any way you like from 3 modules to infinity. I’d recommend 4 or 5 units for starters. You can find some examples from Anniefolds website.

Diagrams here and video with some pictures after the break.

And some examples:

12 units

12 units, type 2

16 units

More examples here and here.

@david: It’s explained on the website, for the 12 units type 2 there are 8 points made with 8 triangles, for the 16 units you need 10 points with 8 triangles and 2 squares.

  9. zach says:June 4th, 2008 at 01:56

i apologize, i have completed most of your other projects, however after spending an hour trying to do the same thing i am having a hard time. please help me

  10. Karl says:June 4th, 2008 at 17:06

@zach: You can use something to hold the modules together, like paper clips, I used thicker paper than usual printing paper, but I thought normal printing paper would be easier to assemble… I guess not. Maybe you could try with thicker paper, make 3 modules and see if it’s any easier.

here is the crease pattern. The paper size is 20cm x 40cm or anything of that dimension. you just waterbomb fold each 2×2 square
