Video: Star box

Star box

A nice modular box by Robin Glynn. I made one of these a while ago, but couldn’t get it to hold together. I wouldn’t recommend trying to do this from the video, you should take look at the diagrams before doing anything. I tried to do the lid, but the modules didn’t hold together as well as I wanted, so I didn’t film that.

The diagrams are over here and the video is after the break.

Video: Mini book

Book

This one is really amazing, a small book of 3 pages (plus 2) made of one square paper. The video and the image are by Mark Roberts, the same who made the amazing intersecting tetrahaedra video. I couldn’t find any paper that was colored on one side and white on the other, so mine is just a small white book… wasn’t worth a picture. Now you can become a self publishing writer! And here are the diagrams.

Video: Pine cone

Pine cone

This pine cone is incredibly sturdy and looks almost real when looked at from far away. It’s made from a single square paper. The camera is on holidays so no video this time, but great diagrams though. Great nature origami by David Petty.

Edit (Jan 30th, 2008): I finally got around making the video, I slowed it down on the difficult parts.

Video: 3d star/omega star

3d star

This one is really amazing, it’s made from only one square paper. It takes a lot of precreasing (folding before doing anything), but it’s not hard to do. A wonderful origami star by John Montroll. Unfortunately I cannot post the diagrams without the authors permission, so I made the video as clear as possible. If you happen to find the diagrams somewhere on the net let me know.

Video after the break.

Edit: thanks to oissin here are the diagrams: http://www.origami.cz/Bin/star.html.

Video: Octahedral cross

Octahedral cross

A cross by Tung Ken Lam. It seems like there are 3 crossing planes, but it’s actually it’s made of 12 modules. If you’re a beginner it’s a good start: it easy and quick to fold and assemble. This is the first video where I taped all the assembling.

Diagrams here and video after the break.

Video: Box skeleton

Box skeleton

A very easy modular for once, by Jeff Beynon. It’s a cube full of holes. The modules hold better when the sides are bent to 90 degree angles.

Video: Gyroscope

Gyroscope

A simple modular origami that is a pain in the ass to assemble. It takes about half an hour and a lot of frustration to make it. You’ll need 12 square papers for this one.
