Box-lid

Here’s a box with a lid made out of a single square paper. It’s not as pretty as the square box with lid, but it can come handy. The corners are cleverly locked and the lid holds itself on the box by interlocking the four lid parts. A useful origami by Marc Vigo Anglada.

Diagrams here and the video is after the break.

Six pointed star

Another origami star into the collection. A six pointed star that doesn’t fly very well. Made from a single A4 format paper folded in an equilateral triangle. The star is sturdy and won’t unfold. Made by David Petty, here are the diagrams.

Star

Here’s a nice star for you by František Grebeníček, unfortunately this origami doesn’t hold together very well, I’d recommend glue if really necessary. It’s made of two identical pieces, so I guess it’s a modular.

The diagrams are in Czech, but the most important are the pictures. Video after the break.

Modular ball

An easy to fold and assemble modular by Fumiaki Kawahata. Since it’s easy to assemble it doesn’t hold together as well as some other modulars. It only requires 6 square papers.

Diagrams here and 2 videos after the break.

Blueprints

I guessed it looked like a house, so I called it “Blueprints”. The pieces are randomly assembled and hold together with grooves, absolutely no glue. Since it’s not anything special I didn’t make a video of how I made it. You can use the same method to make bigger stuff, though it’s very time consuming. More pictures after the break.

Box

A very useful origami to know, make a box out of an A4 format paper. You can make a lid with a slightly bigger box or use this one as the lid and make a smaller box, cut off the edges of the paper before folding and voilà. Diagrams over here and video after the break.

Video: Shuriken/throwing star

Shuriken/throwing star

Here’s how to make a shuriken/throwing star. You’ll need 2 square papers, it doesn’t matter how big they are as long as they’re the same size. I get so many useless papers in my courses that I kill time by making shurikens out of them - about 200 so far. The problem with these is that they’re very light and when thrown the air pressure between the shuriken and the target will build up very quickly just before hitting it and it’ll just barely miss it (but don’t count on it, exceptions exist).

Please be careful with these, they can be very dangerous… especially if you make a big one. They’re great because it takes less than a minute to make one and they fly very far and accurately if you throw them right.
