The Yin-yang paper box is made with 2 circular pieces.

The Yin-yang paper box is made from 2 circular pieces. It cannot be called origami since it requires cutting, but I thought it looked really nice and would fit in the paper craft category. The credit goes to the Philip Chapman-Bell who came up with this nice design.

I made the crease pattern myself instead of printing it out and used thicker paper than normal printing paper. The circle I made had a 10cm radius.

I used a pen and draw on the curved folding lines, it makes the paper weaker in these areas and makes the folding that much easier. I really recommend thick paper for this one, looks better and is sturdier.

Paper to use

Thick paper (160g/m2). You need 2 circular pieces, one black and the other white work the best.

Hexaflexagon action model, by Paul Jackson

An action model, made by Paul Jackson. It has to be cut out because it’s made from triangles.

I used an A4 format paper, divided it in 7 strips of 4cm and made the base of the triangles also 4cm, equilateral triangles might work better.

I had to glue it together, since it’s moving it makes it come apart.

Since it’s cut and glued it goes under paper craft category.

Paper to use

Thick paper might work better than normal, but you’ll have to cut out the pattern yourself.

It takes an enlightened Buddhist to do that.

I once challenged myself to do one of these, and failed miserably, not because it looked like nothing, the steering part was completed, but it was due to the lack of motivation. If you really like motorcycles, are skilled in cutting/gluing paper and have years of free time, go for it.

I challenge anybody to do this and make it resemble to what the assembled model looks like. It’s a nice promotional campaign from Yamaha, you can either print colored or black and white parts.

The TMAX is a scooter-like motorcycle, pdf files on their site.

The Yamaha DSC11, which stands for Dragstar Classic Eleven, is one of the coolest and looks like some modernized steampunk machine. Files over here.

The MT-01 is the most difficult as it’s the most detailed, it is in 5 parts: the engine, rear arm and frame, steering and tank, exhaust pipe and front and rear tires. It takes an enlightened Buddhist to do that. Here’s the link to the pdf files you can print out.

You can browse for more models on their main page: Yamaha Papercraft.
